REPRESENTATIVES from Racing Queensland Limited (RQL) and the Toowoomba Turf Club met on Saturday met to discuss a number of possible options designed to strengthen racing throughout the Darling Downs region.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both entities to canvas the possibility of developing a partnership between RQL and the Toowoomba Turf Club for the ownership and management of Clifford Park’s racing and training facilities.

“It is very early days and this is likely to be the first of many discussions but we wanted to sit down with the club’s committee and talk through various operating models that could be applied to a future partnership,” RQ chairman Mr Bob Bentley said.

Toowoomba Turf Club chairman Mr Col Zeller said: “The advantage to Toowoomba Turf Club members and stakeholders in partnering with Racing Queensland for the development of Clifford Park is that it opens opportunities and progression that would not normally be possible. The board of Toowoomba Turf Club will continue to work toward a resolution to present to the members as soon as possible.”
