NEW SAND SURFACE ENABLES CALLAGHAN PARK RETURN ON TUESDAY

FOLLOWING a meeting of officials in Rockhampton yesterday, the decision has been taken to recommence TAB racing in Rockhampton from Tuesday, November 10, 2009 on the sand track.

This decision follows the successful installation of a quality sand surface at Callaghan Park and safety concerns following increased kangaroo numbers in and around Keppel Park, Yeppoon after the recent bushfires.

EL-ISSA IN HOT WATER AFTER YEPPOON BETTING INQUIRY

JOCKEY Bobby El-Issa  has been suspended for three months and fined $500 on charges of betting on races and making false statements.

Queensland Racing Limited stewards today concluded an inquiry after investigating allegations that El-Issa bet on races run at Yeppoon on Tuesday, October 27, 2009.

TOOWOOMBA CUSHION TRACK FAILS TO ATTRACT SUFFICIENT NUMBERS

THERE will be no TAB race meeting in Queensland on Wednesday because there were insufficient acceptances to conduct a meeting on the Cushion Track in Toowoomba.

Queensland Racing was forced to abandon the meeting which had been transferred to Clifford Park from Eagle Farm.

CHARGED WITH USING A WHIP WITH WEIGHTED OBJECTS IN PADDED SECTION

STAR West Australian apprentice, Duncan Miller, has been disqualified for 12 months for using a lethally modified whip over a two month period.

The West Australian newspaper reports that Miller was slapped with the ban after being found guilty of improper practice and charged with carrying and using in races and trials from August 1 to October 3 a whip which had weighted objects in its padded section.

 

JUDGE SAYS ANDREWS SUFFERED 'A SIGNIFICANT INJUSTICE'

DISGRUNTLED director BILL ANDREWS has won his Supreme Court action against Queensland Racing successfully challenging the validity of the Board election process.

EGGLESTON THE NEW CHAIRMAN OF GOLD COAST TURF CLUB

HOSS Heinrich has been deposed as chairman of the Gold Coast Turf Club and his position was taken today by Andrew Eggleston.

In a twist of irony Heinrich led the vote count in the election of directors and Eggleston secured the last spot by 16 votes from former deputy chairman, Larry Klinge.
