DAVID Hayes shunned the crowd of owners, trainers and media trying to identify horses in a heavy mist at Meydan yesterday and whisked Eagle Falls away to a nearby training track for a leisurely gallop leading into Saturday’s $US2 million Golden Shaheen.

Hayes had been working Eagle Falls with the other international horses near the 1600 metres chute on the Meydan racecourse before he discovered the training track adjacent to Meydan which is normally reserved for local horses.

The track is virtually brand new with a tapeta all-weather circuit on the outside of an 1800 metre
turf track.

“It’s a great track and we had it to ourselves this morning which is what I wanted because he
(Eagle Falls) can get a bit keen around other horses,” Hayes said.

Ridden by his groom Lizzie Jelfs, Eagle Falls cruised around the tapeta and finished off his last
100 metres in about 13 seconds.

“He wasn’t out to make any time, I just wanted him to stay settled because he can start to pull,”
Hayes said.

Hayes said the track he used was also a lot closer to the international stables than the three
kilometre walk to the 1600 metres chute.

He was all smiles after Thursday’s work and said he could not have Eagle Falls any better.

The connections of All Silent, which runs in the $US1 million Alquoz Sprint (1200m), were also much happier than on Tuesday when the horse was directed onto the all-weather track rather than the course proper for his gallop.

Neale Begg, brother of trainer Grahame Begg, who has been almost constantly travelling with All
Silent since the Spring Racing Carnival, said the horse was back in the same condition he was
before his win in the Patinack Classic (1200m) at Flemington in November.

“He lost quite a bit of weight on the trip to Hong Kong in December but he travelled much better to
Dubai and I think he is back to his best,” Begg said.

Corey Brown will ride both Eagle Falls and All Silent on Saturday night.
