PLENTY OF ACTION IN THE VICTORIAN COUNTRY THIS SATURDAY

YOU can enjoy the feel of the beach, sample the tastes of the Grampians, enjoy a Girls’ Day Out or take the chance to relax on the Murray – all while enjoying a day at the country races.

There are four meetings on Saturday in the country complimenting the Group 1 Caulfield Cup, with the “Bendigogo” Beach Party at Bendigo, Girls’ Day Out at Hamilton, the popular Avoca Cup and feature race meeting at Wodonga.

The patron who can produce the loudest shirt at Bendigo will win the competition on-course as part of the beach party theme. On the fashion front patrons can participate in a Beachwear Fashion Parade, where all the contenders for the loudest shirt competition will be on display.

Also at the racecourse will be live music, a beach feel lawn bar and a $500 netball shootout. There will also be a courtesy bus running from Bendigo Central to the racecourse and back.

After a great debut last year, Hamilton Racing Club hosts its second annual Girls’ Day Out. Along with quality racing on the card, there will be live music, Cocktail Hour, Pamper Place and the Blundstone Boots Funky Fashions. The first 100 patrons through the gate receive a complimentary glass of champagne.

At Wodonga patrons can enjoy all the spoils of the Spring Racing Carnival, with live racing action as well as the races from Caulfield televised. With racing action on Saturday, people can spend the weekend on the Murray and tour the surrounding snowfields and wineries on the Sunday.

Avoca Turf Club hosts the popular PJA & Blue Pyrenees Avoca Cup meeting with an abundance of activity on-course.

Included among the activities will be the Stryde Fashions on the Field competition with prizes totalling $5400, the opportunity to sample the delicious range of Blue Pyrenees wines, taste boutique beers from local brewery Three Troupers, live music from Spoon and roving local band Bobsy-Die, a wide variety of fresh food stalls, activities for the kids’ and the opportunity to camp under the stars.
