ROY HIGGINS MEDAL

THE battle for the 2009 Roy Higgins Medal is on in earnest with four jockeys equal on two wins after the first two days of the 2009 Caulfield Spring Racing Carnival with 17 races run and won so far. In all, 13 jockeys have ridden winners.

Inaugural Roy Higgins Medallist, Damien Oliver, is joined at the top of the leader board by Dan Nikolic, Michael Rodd and Nick Hall having ridden two winners each.

All tied on one win apiece are Blake Shinn, Glen Boss, Nash Rawiller, Mark Zahra, Michelle Payne, Mark Pegus, Dom Tourneur, Dwayne Dunn and Steven King.

The Roy Higgins Medallist will be determined by the most races won. If there is a tie in that category, a count-back system will apply to second, third and fourth placings to determine a winner.

NATIONAL ANTHEM PERFORMANCE
ONE of Australia’s finest new talents and Sony Music artist, Mark Vincent, will perform the National Anthem prior to the running of the 2009 BMW Caulfield Cup. Mark will be accompanied by the Australian Girls Choir.

CHAMPIONSHIP MOVES
CHAMPIONSHIP Moves is taking the campaign message against alcohol-related violence into the heart of Victorian communities.

It is part of a campaign which encourages young men to help their mates with Championship Moves while encouraging them to drink responsibly and look after each other.

The Championship Moves roadshow will be at Caulfield racecourse on Saturday outside the main entrance and includes handball competitions, giveaways, footy skills sessions and photo opportunities with AFL players.

AFL players Sam Fisher (St Kilda), Adam Simpson (North Melbourne) and Nathan Thompson (formerly North Melbourne) will be there to promote the message: "Real champions look out for their mates and respect everyone’s right to a good time."

Race-goers are encouraged to show off their Championship Moves at the 2009 BMW Caulfield Cup.

GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETING
PATRONS who have not yet pre-purchased ticketing to the BMW Caulfield Cup can still do so. General admission tickets will be available for purchase at any of the public entrances to Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday. General admission tickets are $55.
