MEDIA personality Brent Zerafa has been disqualified for three months for conduct prejudicial to the interests of racing while working as a mounting yard expert for TVN in January.

CHRIS ROOTS reports for FAIRFAX MEDIA that colourful identity John Camilleri, who has been found guilty of six charges in the ongoing Sam Kavanagh-Midsummer Sun cobalt and raceday treatments inquiry, had texted Zerafa a tip for Palazzo Pubblico early in the day before it won on January 17 when heavily supported in betting.

Zerafa didn't tip Palazzo Pubblico in his duties on TVN in the mounting yard but subsequently had $200 at $6 on the horse just before the race jumped after as much as $12 had been available.

In the finding Racing NSW chairman of stewards Ray Murrihy found Zerafa didn't deliberately throw punters off in his tips by not including Palazzo Pubblico but said his actions didn't pass the reasonable person test.

Zerafa immediately appeal the decision and asked for a stay of proceedings.

The 29-year-old has already had his contract terminated by Sky channel last Thursday after the guilty finding by stewards. .

He faces three months where he cannot go to a racecourse, hold a betting account and will have to release to his share in three-year-old Elle Snitz.
