THE Australian Crime Commission and the Victorian Racing Integrity Commissioner have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which establishes an unprecedented platform for cooperation and information sharing.

The agreement is the first of its kind with a State or Territory racing integrity body and is a major step towards meeting the risks of crime and corruption with a united response.

THE VRC Oaks Day meeting at Flemington was marred by an ugly mounting yard incident when a strapper was allegedly assaulted by a stablehand from the powerful Darley Stud, owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

FAIRFAX MEDIA report that in an unsavoury incident that took some of the gloss off the carnival's traditional Ladies' Day meeting, the strapper was awaiting the return of her winning horse Black Cash after the race five Subzero Challenge.

Footage aired on Channel Seven on Thursday night showed the woman speaking to a man in the mounting yard before he appeared to swing a right hand and make contact with her face. Bruising was clear on the woman's face after the incident.

RACING Victoria (RV) and the Werribee Racing Club (WRC) have today announced that the Werribee meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 13 November 2013 has been transferred to Ballarat to allow the newly renovated inside section of the track further time to consolidate.

As a result, the TAB Werribee Cup, which was scheduled to be run next Wednesday, will now be conducted at Werribee on Sunday, 15 December 2013 on what will become a major celebration for the local community with free admission and a raft of family entertainment.

THE Australian Jockeys’ Association is calling on the Federal Government to fix a legislative glitch that sees jockeys miss out on Paid Parental Leave because of safety restrictions on riding when pregnant.

Access to Paid Parental Leave entitlements is one of several measures needed to address challenges for female riders who now make up 25% of jockeys, according to a new report Racing for Equality.

THE greatest ‘‘kick in the guts’’ Paul Beshara has experienced in 40 years as a trainer might yet be followed by the greatest moment in his career.

AAP reports in THE AGE that Victoria’s Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board (RAD) disqualified the Adelaide-based Beshara for treating his horse Happy Trails on the day it was due to race at Moonee Valley last month.

Under new rules, a guilty verdict in such a case attracts a mandatory minimum six month disqualification which RAD Board chairman Russell Lewis announced on Monday, albeit with some regret.

RACING Victoria on Thursday evening announced that the Australian Group 1 Trainers Title had been renamed the Bart Cummings Award in honour of the contribution the master trainer has made to the sport of thoroughbred racing over 60 years.

At the annual Australian Racehorse of the Year Awards, held at Peninsula, Docklands, the inaugural Bart Cummings Award was presented by the training great to premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller.

THE long running More Joyous saga is yet to be finalised after the Racing NSW's Appeals Board elected to reserve their judgement until a date to be fixed.

BRENT ZERAFA reports for TVN that five months after the All Aged Stakes, Waterhouse and Racing NSW stewards were at it again for more than five hours at Racing NSW headquarters, rehashing evidence as both sides pushed their case.

Waterhouse is appealing against two seperate charges, which included a $5,000 fine for failing to report the condition of More Joyous prior to the All Aged Stakes and then another $2,000 for the same offence, this time relating to the Queen Of The Turf Stakes.
