RACING Queensland has announced the 2015 Queensland Racing Thoroughbred Awards, including the coveted Queensland Horse of the Year, will be held at Doomben Racecourse on Monday October 12, 2015.

Racing Queensland Acting CEO Ian Hall said following recent industry consultation meetings, key industry stakeholders would come together to deliver the awards.

“The industry agreed it was vitally important we recognise the achievements of our participants and I would like to thank the Queensland Racehorse Owners Association, Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland and the Brisbane Racing Club, AON and Magic Millions for their support,” Mr Hall said. “The backing of the awards by the industry will be invaluable in ensuing the evening is a success”

“There have been some phenomenal achievements by Queensland participants during the 2014-15 season and we look forward to celebrating them at Doomben next month.”

Racing Queensland Thoroughbred Operations Manager Ross Gove said the voting panel would have its work cut out with some of the awards.

“There are always some obvious standouts come awards time but in saying that, there are frequently a number which could attract a good deal of healthy debate,” Mr Gove said.

“In particular, the Apprentice of the Year and the 2YO and 3YO Horse of the Year  awards will be hotly-contested, while in the senior jockey ranks,  the success of our top hoops both interstate and on home turf will more than likely see that category come right down to the wire too.”
