RACING Victoria has today (Thursday) announced the appointment of Robert Roulston as its new Chairman, effective immediately.

The Racing Victoria Board elected Mr Roulston to replace Michael Duffy who announced at Racing Victoria’s 2012 Annual General Meeting that he would be retiring from the role. Mr Duffy will remain on the Board until the end of his appointed term at the 2013 AGM which is scheduled to be held in October.

Mr Roulston has been elevated from the position of Deputy Chairman and has served on the Board since 2008.

The Board elected Michael Caveny as its new Deputy Chairman.

Mr Roulston said he was honoured to assume the role of Chairman and paid tribute to the retiring Mr Duffy.

“I am honoured to have been elected the Chairman of Racing Victoria and look forward to working with the Board, management, staff and industry stakeholders to ensure the sport of thoroughbred racing grows and prospers in Victoria,” Mr Roulston said.

“Racing is a wonderful sport that boasts a wide and diverse participation and as Chairman, I am committed to ensuring that we maximise opportunities to promote participation, generate revenue for continued industry investment and maintain an unwavering commitment to integrity.

“I would also like to pay tribute to Michael Duffy who has led the Board with great distinction, passion and commitment since becoming Chairman in 2007 and prior to that, serving as Deputy Chairman since the establishment of Racing Victoria in 2001.”
