POISON IVY INQUIRY COMPLETED BY RACING VICTORIA STEWARDS
RACING Victoria Limited (RVL) stewards have found top trainer, David Hayes, guilty of using shockwave therapy treatment on the horse, Poison Ivy, and fined him $2,500.
The inquiry was opened at the Moonee Valley race meeting on Friday night, 20 November 2009, at which stewards ordered the late withdrawal of Poison Ivy from the Tatts Group Handicap.

NEW WAGERING MANAGING DIRECTOR TO BE SOUGHT BY TABCORP
TABCORP Holdings Limited today announced the resignation of Managing Director Wagering Robert Nason, who is leaving the company to take up a senior executive position with Telstra.
Mr Nason will leave on 31 December 2009 after leading the Wagering division for more than three years.
WRC OUTRAGED AT RVL’S DECISION TO BAN JUMPS RACING
THE Warrnambool Racing Club (WRC) is devastated by the decision of Racing Victoria Limited’s (RVL) current Board to ban jumps racing at the conclusion of the 2010 season.
The WRC, along with the Australian Jumps Racing Association (AJRA), will explore every opportunity to extend jumps racing beyond next year.

TRANSITIONARY PERIOD BEFORE CURTAIN FALLS AFTER JUMPS REVIEW
THE Board of Racing Victoria Limited (RVL) has today determined that the 2010 jumps racing season will be the last season of jumps racing in Victoria.
A program of high-weight races will be scheduled for the 2011 season to assist with the transition for jockeys, trainers and horses.

AUSTRALIAN RACING MUSEUM MOVES TO MELBOURNE CRICKET GROUND
RACING Victoria Limited’s (RVL) official ambassador, 1992 Melbourne Cup winner Subzero, made his final appearance at Champions – Australian Racing Museum (ARM) at Federation Square today.
The ARM closes its doors this Friday, 27 November ahead of a move to the National Sports Museum (NSM) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in 2010.
THE DOCTOR ATTEMPTING TO EMULATE GREEN PICK AT WODONGA
DEFENDING champion Dr Nipandtuck will return to defend the SS&A Wodonga Cup on Sunday as he attempts to emulate the feat of Green Pick, who won the race in 2003 and 2004.
Trained by James Fraser at Wangaratta, Dr Nipandtuck hasn’t won since the victory last year. However, the 7YO gelding has been contesting metropolitan races including those at Group and Listed level.

OLIVER TO APPEAL SEVERITY - BLAMES POSITIVE ON APPETITE SUPPRESSANT
CHAMPION jockey Damien Oliver was today suspended for one month by Racing Victoria stewards after a random urine sample tested positive.
Oliver, who plans to appeal the severity of the suspension, claimed in a media release issued by the Australian Jockeys’ Association that the irregularity stemmed from a ‘herbal supplement’ that he had been taking since 2000 without any previous problems.

BETTER END TO A BAD WEEK FOR THE LAMINGS WITH ECLIPSE WIN
THE father and son training team, Bevan and Richard Laming, made the best of a bad week winning back-to-back Eclipse Stakes with under-rated mare Bashful Girl at Sandown on Saturday.
The Lamings, who a day earlier were charged by Racing Victoria stewards in relation to positive EPO swabs, had won the Group 3 $125,000 Eclipse a year earlier with Eskimo Dan.

VICTORIAN RACING CELEBRATES NOONAN SUCCESS AT TRAINING AWARDS
THE Victorian Thoroughbred Racing Industry is celebrating the success of apprentice jockey Jake Noonan at the 2009 Australian Training Awards.
Noonan was last night awarded the prestigious title of Australian School-based Apprentice of the Year at a gala dinner in Canberra hosted by Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Hon. Julia Gillard.
SEQUEL TO EPO POSITIVES WITH FATHER & SON TRAINING TEAM CHARGED
THE Racing Victoria Limited stewards today (Friday) have issued charges against the training partnership of Bevan and Richard Laming as a result of an investigation into Benelli and War Dancer testing positive to darbepoetin alfa.
Both horses tested positive to the prohibited substance darbepoetin alfa, which is a synthetic form of erythropoietin (EPO).
